Why Saint Patrick Academy

Why Saint Patrick Academy

Why Saint Patrick Academy?

Excellence in Academics

Saint Patrick Academy is a place where academic and personal excellence are expectations for all. With our smaller classroom size, we are able to truly know our students and help them to become the best version of themselves. We aim to individualize our programming so as to challenge those students who are ready for the extra push while encouraging those who need more assistance. By learning and practicing virtues such as kindness, honesty, humility, and generosity, this becomes our foundation for success in every area of our lives.

Catholic Faith & Values

The Saint Patrick Academy community works together to help students know God, serve God, and love God. The students experience the Catholic faith and its teachings firsthand so that they can work for the common good and go out into the world as an example of Christ’s light. At Saint Patrick Academy, we start our day with morning prayer, say grace, attend weekly mass, celebrate religious holidays, learn about faith in religion class, and focus on service to others.

Sense of Community

Saint Patrick Academy is a “home away from home” for our students, staff, and families. With one class per grade, our staff knows and loves each of our students and their families and our foundation is built on these strong relationships. The faculty seeks to partner with parents; appreciating their role as primary educators of their children. This partnership between home and school is what makes for a successful and happy child and is what SPA is proud to foster.

buddies program

Our “buddy program” is an invaluable part of our school community.  In this program, students in the middle school are partnered with students in the lower school and remain with the same “buddy” throughout their middle school years.  These partnerships bridge our older students and our younger students.  Middle school mentors help our younger students to feel safe, valued, and connected to the greater school community while providing our older students with opportunities to lead and act as a good role models to their younger counterparts.  The buddy program builds confidence and a stronger sense of community with our students in both our lower school and middle school.

Buddy program activities are ongoing throughout the school year.  Our older students assist the kindergarteners and 1st graders during weekly mass.  Students also meet with their buddies for special classroom projects/activities, holiday games, community service opportunities, and/or field trips. The relationships developed through the buddy program often last well after a student has graduated.

virtue program

Each month, our students learn one of 10 virtues that fall under the parent virtues of Justice, Temperance, Fortitude and Prudence.

When our children study obedience, for example, they learn its definition, what it looks like when it is practiced and what it sounds like when someone does it. Then, students make the long journey from head to heart by considering how they can cultivate it in their daily life – on the playground, in class and at home with you.

One of the greatest benefits to our Virtues Program is that our teachers, students and families are all thinking—in common—of the virtue of the month and how it can be lived out. Another unique benefit of our program is that it trains our teachers to look for the good in our students.

During the day, teachers recognize students for practicing virtue. In turn, students record it on a Virtue Tracker sheet that is sent home to inform parents. After they have made a record of the virtue practiced, they come and share their heroic tale with our Head of School!
