Although 2020 was a whirlwind, we found many things to be thankful for as individuals and as a community at Saint Patrick Academy. At the outset of the 20-21 school year, we tried to anticipate what the future will bring us and decided to make the theme for this year “Nunc Coepi.” Nunc Coepi (noonk cheh’-pee) is Latin and translates to “Now, I begin” and connects to this new year and is appropriate for many reasons.
Nunc Coepi inspires us from the beginning of the day and to the end. When we wake up in the morning, we thank God for the new start of the day he has given us. We realize how thankful we are that we can breathe, see, and hear. Every day is a special day and something we shouldn’t take for granted. When we get up in the morning and talk to God, we say Nunc Coepi, “Now, I begin for you” and commit to being the best version of ourselves, as no other day will be like the one we live today.
In this time of COVID-19, we constantly feel the pressure and worry of each day. We worry about positive cases, protecting ourselves, our family, students, and our School. Our ability to celebrate our in-person schooling goes arm-in-arm with the daily call to action inherent to the phrase, Nunc Coepi. Despite the curveballs that COVID-19 may throw at us or our community, we work through it together.
Each day, we begin and throughout this year, we take it one day at a time.

“If I should fail, even if it were a thousand times, I will not be troubled, I will not lose courage, but say immediately, and with peace, “Nunc Coepi – Now I begin.” ~Venerable Bruno Lanteri
